Teeth Grinding

  • Do you suffer from chronic headache, neckache or backache?
  • Do you wake up with tightness in your jaw or face muscles?
  • Do you get clicking in your jaw joint?
  • Does your partner complain that you grind your teeth?
  • Do you have teeth that are worn or chipped for no apparent reason?

Many people grind and clench their teeth from time to time without it causing a problem. However for some people regular and persistent grinding or clenching can lead to pain, damaged teeth or other complications involving the jaw or surrounding muscles. Teeth grinding often occurs during sleep and therefore people are often unaware of it happening.

If you are one of those people for whom teeth grinding or clenching is a problem you may benefit from a Nociceptive Trigeminal Inhibition Tension Suppression System (NTI-tss) device. This is a small acrylic mouthpiece made to fit over your front teeth and makes clenching almost impossible. Worn whilst you sleep, the mouthpiece can help alleviate headaches, migraines, jaw or neck/back pain and can also reduce the force of grinding and thus limit wear and damage to your teeth. For many people reduction in symptoms are usually seen within a few weeks of wearing the device.

For more information or to make an appointment to see the dentist and find out if you would benefit from the NTI-tss please contact reception.
