Porcelain
veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded
to the front surface of your natural teeth. Veneers
can be used to improve the shape, colour and position
of one or more of your teeth. They can be used to
close spaces between your teeth, lengthen small
or misshapen teeth, or whiten darkened teeth. And
if your teeth are chipped or beginning to wear,
veneers can protect them from damage and even restore
their original looks. Veneers will not change colour
over time and can provide you with a youthful, long
lasting smile.

A
dental crown may be needed if tooth is badly broken
down, ie. If it has a large or worn out filling,
or has a large amount of decay. With old technology,
dental crowns are made with a metal foundation;
although they are strong, they often appear dull
and lifeless and it is common to have the metal
showing as grey or black around the gumline. Today
we are able to offer metal free crowns; made completely
from ceramic, these crowns are beautiful and natural
looking. New bonding technology allows us to bond
the crown directly to your tooth so that they become
one unit, almost like an enamel replacement. Ceramic
crowns are the treatment of choice for teeth that
show when you smile.

Cosmetic
tooth bonding is the term used when a tooth
coloured resin is bonded to your tooth in
order to change its shape or colour, or to increase
its size, or to close gaps. Cosmetic bonding is
probably the most conservative of all cosmetic dentistry
procedures practiced today as it involves minmal
alteration to the original tooth enamel. The results
can be seen immediately and the procedure is also
reversible as it does not usually involve removing
any of the tooth enamel. It
is a virtually painfree procedure and can often
be performed without the use of an anaesthetic.
Over
time little things can conspire to negatively affect
your smile it may be a chip, a crack, discolouration,
noticeable fillings in your front teeth, small gaps
between your teeth or teeth that are uneven. Fortunately
cosmetic bonding can offer you a simple, long lasting
and cost effective way to restore a beautiful smile.

One
of the commonest complaints patients have about
their teeth is having unsightly amalgam fillings,
fortunately it is also one of the simplest things
to change. Advances in modern dentistry mean that
patients no longer need to put up with the appearance
of black/silver amalgam fillings. The latest white
(composite)filling materials are as strong as traditional
amalgam and are designed to match the colour of
your natural teeth.
